I haven't personally tried this but I definitely am going to.
I have a 4g i Pod that had this same issue about 4 months ago and it broke my heart. I've since purchased a video i Pod but would LOVE to get my old one working so I'm going home in a little while to try and will def post back asap!
– Restore method Try putting it in disk mode by holding the Menu Center buttons until the Apple logo appears, then when it Logo appears, switch to holding Center Play/Pause buttons until it says .
Then try formatting or restoring it and see if it fixes it at all.
To get out of disk mode, reset your i Pod by holding Menu Center buttons until the Apple logo appears again. – Disk management: plug in i Pod under “storage”, click on “disk management” right-click on the i Pod it shows. – Driver Re-install -Plug your ipod into your computer, My Computer Device Manager and click on Universal Serial Bus Controller.
